Our History

The Sri Murugan Society of Alberta was established in 2010 by a dedicated group of Tamil devotees who sought to create a spiritual home for Lord Murugan worship in Calgary and surrounding areas. What began as small gatherings in community centers has grown into a vibrant organization serving the spiritual needs of hundreds of families.

Over the years, the society has been instrumental in organizing regular poojas, celebrating Tamil festivals, and providing religious education to younger generations. Our commitment to preserving traditional Hindu practices while adapting to the Canadian context has made us a cornerstone of the Tamil community in Alberta.

Today, the Sri Murugan Society of Alberta continues to grow, with plans to establish a permanent temple facility that will serve as a spiritual and cultural center for generations to come. Through the grace of Lord Murugan and the dedication of our members, we remain committed to fostering devotion, community, and cultural preservation.
